About the Event
Meet at 2:30 pm in the northwest corner of the parking lot at the Broomfield King Soopers on Hwy 287, north side of Broomfield (1150 US-287, Broomfield, CO 80020). There's a fuel station there, and also a Starbucks, and a Heidi's Deli.
We will depart at 3:00 pm. This year we'll return to our namesake Peak to Peak Highway. We should arrive at the lake around 5:00 pm or so, when we'll pull out our provisions, have a sparkling wine toast or two, and share the scene.
At dusk we will fire our engines and head up to the Visitor Center on top of RMNP's Trail Ridge Road. With luck, the moon and stars will astound. You can continue on over the pass to Grand Lake if you like.
The park entrance rangers are usually gone by the time we enter the park, but if not, they'll be asking you for an entrance fee, if you don't have a National Parks Pass. We should not have to worry about park entrance reservations, however, as those are not needed for evening entrance.
