About the Event
Clipper & Megan have put together a lovely spring drive for us with lots of fun facts, history, and trivia along the route!
COVID Challenges: Most bathrooms are closed in gas stations and parks. Bring a mask, sanitizers/wipes, an empty bladder, and lunch if you chose. Bandanas, neck gaiters and t-shirts are recommended "easy" face coverings. We will continue to refine our safety measures as we go along, but driving Miatas is inherently distant. We'll figure this out!
Location: THE Loaf n' Jug, 102 N Rubey Dr, Golden CO
Date & Time: Saturday May 9, meet at 8:00a. Drivers meeting at 8:25a, 8:30a departure. Weather contingency: Sunday, May 10 - it can't be bad 2 days in a row, right??
Distance: 120-ish miles
Cost: None unless you want to buy lunch
RSVP: Nort required
Description: A well loved route, this drive will take us out a new exit that keeps us together much better! We'll take **right turns** to US-6, then off to Central City Parkway, Peak to Peak Hwy, through Ned and Estes Park and back to Loveland via US-34.
Those who wish to continue driving twisties will have the option to branch off (with your trusty drive leader) onto Buckhorn Rd through Masonville to Rist Canyon Rd, where we'll loop back around Horsetooth Reservoir to finish the planned route ending in Loveland to depart for home. The Rist Canyon route will add approximately 60-75 minutes so the two groups likely won't meet at the end.
If desired, drivers can meet at Sonic in Loveland for a socially-distant lunch: 857 S Lincoln Blvd, Loveland, CO 80537.
